About Me

I was always fascinated by watching my uncle, Jan Evans, play drums when I was younger, he finally gave in to my incessant nagging for lessons and started to teach me when I was 17. I later studied with some other great tutors, Dave Cutler, Andy Trim, then this year I had the great privilege to be taught by drumming great, Ian Thomas.

My first real professional band was a band named “The Rhythm Method”. This was a great band for my development. It really was a “big” band, having 16 members in it and hand a really great sound, the original tunes ranged from jazz swing through to latin and pop and I found myself performing at quite big gigs and music festivals from very early on. I have also played with many other different bands and recording projects since then, including: Street Level, The Lemongrove, Loose Chippings, Bournemouth University Big Band, Vic Naylor Experience, Rive Gauche to name but a few.

For the last 8 years I have been busy playing with the group "The Huckleberries". I have recorded 3 CDs with this band, headlined at many music festivals around the UK, this year we performed at the Avalon Main Stage at Glastonbury Festival. We also recently worked for the BBC providing music for and appearing in one of their top drama series "Down to Earth".

This year i am lucky enough to be involved in some great and exciting new projects, one of them being a group called "Portrait" which is a great jazz trio/quartet/quintet. Look out for a new CD from this band. Also I am playing with Spiral Jazz Funk Band, and a new funk/pop band called Zigaboo Kick.

I currently am also teaching drums at a local school and also privately from my studio.

I really consider myself very lucky to have been able to work in a profession which is my passion and I am always looking to play in new situations and meet new people, and to improve my knowledge of this art I love ............... Music
